In early April , Wouter "MMAsherdog" Beumers appeared on Twitter :

– Hey, I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, so here we go.

Spent 12+ years playing high stakes poker for a living.
Made good money. Lost some too.
Now I help people keep more of what they make.
Gonna share what I’ve learned along the way about finance, poker strategy and calling out BS.
If you're making money and want to keep it, follow me.

So far, Wouter is very active on Twitter and posts almost every day.

Along with a plethora of stories and useful tips, he named the best player in the history of poker :

– BERRI SWEET is the online poker GOAT, and it's not even remotely close.
He's destroyed entire teams of specialists at their own game for the last decade, and retired some as well.
Linus, Ivey, Trueteller, Sauce123 and Jungleman are all incredible players, but nobody can match Berri as an all-round poker end boss.

One day, Wouter met Doyle Brunson :

– The only time I met Doyle Brunson was at the Bellagio in Vegas. I don’t get starstruck around famous people, but seeing the legend play in person was awesome.
I figured, why not sit down and play with him for a bit?
As I walked up to Bobby’s Room, Doyle was reversing his scooter. Those things are faster than you'd think. He hit full speed in reverse and slammed right into my left leg. He didn’t even notice, and just sped off.
It hurt like hell, and I was bleeding a bit. I went to the bathroom and never ended up playing. To this day, I’ve got a small scar from that incident.
I’m not a tattoo guy, but that’s a mark I’ll wear proudly. I met Doyle. Sort of.
RIP to the legend.

Steve O'Dwyer declared an information war on Daniel Smilkovic:

– Enough is enough, tournament organisers and directors need to start being extremely strict about not seating players once late reg is closed because fucking parasites like Daniel Smilijkovic and others of his ilk will never stop abusing honest players who seat themselves on time.

Once again, Smilijkovic got away with it today in the Irish Open 10k, and was seated 16 minutes after late reg closed. He does this everywhere he goes and gets away with it because of the good graces of the TD’s who aren’t wise the fact that he soft cheats us everywhere he goes.

Myself and other players over the last year argued for strict late reg procedures in direct response to his antics at EPT Paris, PokerDream Jeju and Triton and thankfully those events have responded well and it’s no longer an issue there, but more need to be aware.

Modern tournament apps make it very easy to know exactly how much time is left on the clock to reg, there is absolutely no excuse for a player to walk up to reg 1 second before it closes and stall as long as possible before being seated.

It would be great if we could trust everyone to allow a little bit of leeway for someone who might have had some bad luck that prevented them from arriving on time, but people like him ruin it for everyone else and it sucks. Now we have to be super strict to stop this scamming.

Hope Matt Savage can take the reins and make sure TD’s everywhere are aware of this issue and prevent the rest of us from having to deal with this bullshit everywhere we play.

Daniel Smilkovic

"Steve," Rob Yong asked, "always good to explain why this is unfair as lot of non pro players I talk to don’t think it effects integrity of game."

– Ike Haxton explained it best when a similar discussion arose last year:

A lot of tournaments reach the money not very long after registration closes. If you avoid being seated until 20-30 minutes after reg closes, it’s effectively a form of stalling. You end up having to survive fewer hands and pay the blinds fewer times before reaching the money.

– I have also seen this many times, – confirmed Alexey Ponyakov, – you need to carefully monitor players who are capable of this. In Cyprus, the entire German crowd entered expensive tournaments 5-15 minutes after registration closed. There will be no negative consequences for honest players if such behavior is banned. I understand why managers allow this – the more entries, the more rake. But these players steal money not from the organizers, but from their colleagues.

Daniel Cates has issued a challenge to all players who create poker content:

– I'll be brief, I think I have no equal among all those who make poker content. Yes, I'm even better than you, Mister Falcon! Sometimes I'm even called the best player in the world. I won't go that far, but within the framework of my challenge I'm ready to play any game.

The conditions are simple – you must have at least 10,000 subscribers, play 10,000 hands or more at limits $100/$200+, you choose the game yourself.

Venividi1993 became interested in the challenge and suggested playing his specialty – PLO. Daniel responded quickly:

As said will play, maybe you can get your subs up and do more positive things for poker / others in the meantime. Makes me prioritize you more

Owen Messere is ahead of you also and Doug Polk would be ahead should if WPT can figure out how to let us play.

Venividi recalled that he donated $100k to charity after successfully completing his marathon last year.

Two players with completely opposite results have published their annual reports. For the famous high roller, 2024 was the most successful year in his career, and the “most losing player in history” was again unable to beat the micro limits, but he knows exactly what caused it.

– Okay, we can start earlier, – Jungle took pity, – but we won't be able to finish quickly, I'll be too busy in May. But I'm ready to meet you halfway because of your good deeds.

George Froggatt recalled that he is engaged in training:

– For anyone still unsure of the value of my poker coaching, today I created and delivered this diagram in real time during a group session.

Adam Levy Regrets Joining Reddit:

– Decided to take a stroll over to r/poker today. What???🧐

In the thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/poker/comments/1jsk8dq/using_airtag_to_track_when_whale_comes_to_casino/) that impressed Adam so much, the author planned to use an AirTag tracker to know when a fish comes to the casino.

– This whale from India comes to our casino sometimes and does complete madness at $1/$2. He plays like he doesn’t even look at the cards, in just 8 hours I won 1,500BB from him. The only problem is that he is completely unpredictable – he comes at 10am on Monday, 4pm on Thursday or midnight on Sunday. For some reason he hates me, and when I asked him what time he prefers to play, he just laughed in my face.

I thought I could hide the AirTag in his little bag where he carries his chips so he doesn't have to run to the cashier all the time. He often plays drunk, so I could easily slip him a tracker without him noticing. Surely that wouldn't break the casino rules?

I also wonder if my action will be too immoral. I don't plan on following him in everyday life, and he's clearly losing a lot of money. Has anyone done anything similar? What do you think?

"Jeez," Faraz Jaka was amazed. "That’s a pretty serious criminal offense and possibly a felony. I hope if anyone reading that knows who the whale is they let him or the cardroom know."

Adam confirmed, “The first comment was like that’s definitely illegal lol.”

Kevin Martin compared pocket jacks to women:

– In my life Pocket Jacks = Women

I love them…I get involved over my head and they cost me a lot of money.

– Did someone offend you? – Timex was amazed. – How can you compare half the population of the planet to something as disgusting as pocket jacks. Don't you have a mother?

Mike has a long and rocky history with jacks, dating back to 2007, when Jamie Gold check-raised all-in with threes on the flop in the WSOP Europe Main Event , Timex called with jacks, but a three came on the turn.

“Serves you right for calling with jacks,” Gold shouted.

“Live poker players don’t know how to play at all,” 18-year-old McDonald muttered in response.

Patrick Leonard tries himself in new formats:

– I’ve played a lot of live cash games over the last 12 months, the biggest skill/edge you can have on your competition isn’t how you play pre or post flop but how you react to adversity/running bad relative to how your opponents do and it isn’t even close.

Doug Polk Makes New Weight Loss Bet With Bill Perkins:

– Booked a $200,000 health bet vs Bill Perkins

What do you think my body fat is?

(I already know)

By October 6th, Doug must cut his body fat percentage in half, from 22% to 11%.

Polk lost a similar bet in 2022, when he had to reduce this figure from 28% to 13.85% in 12 months, but stopped at 15%.

Tom Dwan is concerned about the health of the American nation:

– It’s so annoying how the credit card machines now prompt for a tip in so many places.

Also, isn’t this at least a small net public health negative? If not, can we at least pretend it is as an excuse to stop the annoyance

After reading this post, Josh Arieh felt nostalgic:

– Whenever I see any of Tom’s tweets… All I can think about is playing UB in 2008-09 with some idiot named DURRRR. I swore to everyone I knew that I was being shoved. The last session ended with my laptop at the bottom of the pool. Turns out there was no shoving, I was just outclassed.

– What are you talking about? They really did push it on UB, – Tom answered completely seriously. – And who did you play with?

“Damn it, I can’t read,” he added a couple of minutes later.

– LOL, you are so insightful.

Justin Zaki raised a question that is relevant to American live poker:

– Alright I gotta hear it.. what yall think about this?

“I couldn’t even move my chair, it was very uncomfortable,” one of the players complained. “But the hostess didn’t care at all.”

"Have you tried talking to me?" asked the dog's owner, Jess Vierling. "Or have I ignored your requests to remove it?"

Jess later added that this is a service dog, and she always asks the neighbors: "I have no problem moving the dog to another place if it bothers someone. But 95% of the time, people take it completely calmly, some are even happy."

“I have nothing against the dog, but this is the first time I’ve seen them take off their shoes, lol,” one commenter noted.

Matt Savage wrote about how organizers respond to situations like this:

– By law, we are required to allow any dogs ( Ed. – this is about the Hard Rock casino in Florida ), as long as they do not behave aggressively towards others and other dogs (of which we always have a lot, but mostly Yorkies). Jess the dog is very well-behaved, we have not received a single complaint.

But the chip tray on the floor is a much more serious problem. Any manager knows what a headache it is to constantly go and collect them. I am grateful to all the players who do not throw them around at random.

I'm not referring to a specific case, but the removed shoes, for obvious reasons, also really bother me.

– What do you do if one of the players is allergic to animals? – they asked in the comments.

– We are taking the necessary measures.

– And if your employee has an allergy, will he have to endure it?

– Naturally, all for the sake of the rake.

Jason Mo wanted to know all the secrets of MTT:

– What’s a good way to learn how to play tournament poker in a few days? Asking for a friend

Dominic Nietzsche came to the rescue:

– Skip the courses. Get a rough idea about (in order)
– stackoff thresholds pre
– stackoff thresholds post shallow
– how wide you can see flops of shortstacks
-cbet and xr frequencies.

It's still poker. You don't need Bencb or Staples to explain to you that AK is a good hand

Niall Farrell has come up with a new format for online tournaments:

– An online tourney based on the old Champions League/Europa/Conference set up.

1k buyin and when you get showered you drop into a 109, then into an 11 when you get showered from that.

Haven’t worked out the logistics just vomited my idea into the ether as is my way.
