You can earn significant money from poker only if you train constantly – biographies of pros are good motivation. We tell you about Jason Somerville and how this player came to success. Stories of other poker celebrities can be found in the GipsyTeam Hall of Fame.

Until the age of 17, the future professional player had a negative attitude towards gambling. In his youth, Jason wanted to devote his life to sports and was actively involved in martial arts. His first encounter with poker occurred in 2004 when the WSOP was broadcast on TV. Somerville became interested and began playing home tournaments with friends in his free time from training.

Even before reaching adulthood, the young man showed impressive results online

Three months later, the hobby had earned the teenager $3,000. That was when Jason first began to think about a professional career. By the summer of 2005, his bankroll had increased to $20,000, and Somerville decided to change his priorities.

When the young man turned 18, he took part in the World Series for the first time. He didn’t show impressive results at the WSOP, but a year later he was able to take 2nd and 5th places in two events, and in 2011 he received a bracelet and a prize of $500,000 in the NLH tournament for $1,000.

While Jason Somerville’s net worth isn’t known, with around $4 million in live earnings, it’s sure to be sizeable. Even with the nature of live poker tournaments, with backers and staking, it would be safe to assume Jason’s net worth may be multiple millions of dollars.

Somerville repping PokerStars in a live tournament

Throughout his career, the professional player has actively collaborated with online poker rooms. In 2010, Jason joined the PokerVT team as an instructor, and four years later he filmed his own course Run it Up for Ultimate Poker.

In 2015, Somerville became a PokerStars ambassador and later, Twitch offered him a contract. The professional's Twitch channel quickly began to gain momentum and break views records. Thus, at one of the WCOOP final tables, the number of live viewers was 37,000.

Somerville's skills as a streamer did not go unnoticed, and Crown Casino management approached him to broadcast the 2016 Aussie Millions Poker Championship.

Today, Jason says that his main goal is to popularize poker among the younger generation. He does not consider himself a pro and concentrates more on the process of streaming than on the game. Colleagues speak warmly of Somerville. His positive qualities were noted by GGPoker ambassadors Daniel Negreanu and Bertrand Grospellier.
